A Novel Engine Phase Recognition Method for the EFI System of a Motorcycle

A novel phase recognition method to produce cycle timings for the EFI system from the triggering signal of the motorcycle magnetor and the pressure signal of the intake sensor is proposed in the paper. A motorcycle magnetor generates two identical triggering signals in one engine working cycle. Though they carry accurate cycle timing information, the duplication makes it impossible to control injection and ignition timings from the signals alone. The proposed method employs additional information from the pressure sensor to separate the two triggering signals for accurate EFI control.
