Heavy duty engine development trends: low emissions, low consumption, low weight, long life.
The world market is becoming more and more competitive and it is asking for reductions in the cost of transport: this means engines with lower fuel consumption, reduced maintenance and repair cost, low weight (increasing vehicle capacity). On the other side the environment must be protected and exhaust emission further reduced. An extensive application of new technologies will allow to comply with these conflicting requirements on newly designed Diesel engines, to be introduced on the market in the next years.
