The Design and Study of a New Parallel Hybrid Electric Power Train System

A new continuous variable transmission parallel hybrid electric power train system is proposed. The main structural characteristics of the scheme are that it eliminates the transmission, and a high-power electric motor is installed after the automatic clutch. When the vehicle runs at low speed, it is only driven by the electric motor; when the engine reaches its working speed, the engine supplies the main power, and the electric motor will provide extra power if needed. The systems parameters are designed according to the statistical analysis of the vehicles power requirements in the Chinese Typical Civic Drive Cycle, Manhattan Bus Drive Cycle, and UK Bus Drive Cycle, respectively. In order to estimate the vehicles dynamic behavior and fuel economy as hybridization factor (HF) changes, and also validate the rationality of systems parameters, vehicles simulation model is established, and the simulation results show that the new scheme should perform well.
