Transient performance of diesel-generator set under pulse load
A diesel-generator set with large moment flywheel was designed to keep the output current frequency constant under special pulse load. GT-Power simulation model was established and used to study the transient performance of the diesel genset system. It was found the original design could not meet the operating demand, therefore, many means was studied by simulation to analyze their effects on improving transient response performance. Results showed that compressed gas injection was the most effective way to improve the system response under pulse load acceptance conditions.
