Conceptual Design of a Supercritical Light Water Cooled Reactor with Two Flow Paths

The author detailedly surveyed open documents published on SCLWR researches, and got the very important fundamental contradiction through researches of SCLWR and heat transfer calculations in core, which is the contradiction to need high average temperature of the outlet coolant but theres the temperature limit of the cladding of a fuel rod. For resolving the contradiction, with considering the feasibility and the design needs, the author gave a new design of the core with two flow paths, and validated and optimized the main parameters of the core with two flow paths to get the new optimized design named SCLWR-T. The optimized design can get the high average temperature of the outlet coolant approaching 520℃, with the highest temperature of the cladding of a fuel rod under 650℃. All of the calculations above are using CSCLWA that is the thermodynamic steady state codes with the single-channel model that were developed specially for SCLWR-T.
