Theoretical Analysis of the Onset of Gas Entrainment in a Cross Flow
An ideal liquid model was proposed to study the onset of entrainment in a cross flow based on theoretical reasoning. Bernoullis equation was excluded in the formulation of the mathematical formulation resulting in a simpler and more straightforward model. The prediction by the new model compares favorably with experimental data. The onset of gas entrainment and liquid entrainment are unified by this model. The new model was extended to study a sink in a cross flow.
