A Simultaneous NLP Formulation for Synthesis of Multi-period Multi-stream Heat Exchanger Network
This paper presents a simultaneous NLP formulation for the multi-period synthesis of multi-stream heat exchanger network based on the pseudo-temperature-enthalpy diagram method. Pseudo-temperature is obtained by the stream heat transfer temperature difference contribution value which is optimized with Genetic/Simulated annealing algorithm. The formulation features that it does not rely on stage-wise superstructure, the decision variables are reduced significantly, has no binary variables and no infeasible solutions. Hence the calculation efficiency of Genetic/Simulated annealing algorithm can be enhanced and more probability is shown in searching the global optimum. The performance of the multi-period NLP formulation is demonstrated by an industrial example.
