Pareto Optimality of Industrial Symbiosis Network: Benefit Sharing of Wastewater Neutralization Network in Yeosu EIP

In the Yeosu petrochemical complex various acid/alkaline wastewater are produced. Owing to effluent discharge limit, each company purchases a large amount of neutralizing agent for wastewater treatment. From the viewpoint of Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) both the resource usage and total treatment cost can be saved by substituting wastewater of another companies for present neutralizing agent and environmental load caused by use of extra chemicals can be decreased. But, in the economic viewpoint of individual company, wastewater exchange network has the benefit sharing problem. The interest of each company may conflict depending on the configuration of exchange network so that it is not recommended to insist on one-sided concession. That is, making a compromise is the key of success of exchange network. In this study, the concept of robust optimal design is applied for construction of waste water exchange network and reasonable alternatives are proposed to share the benefit of each company.
