Reasonable Temperature Difference of Utility Pinch
The exergy loss of a heat exchange process depends on the temperature level. Based on the principle of equal exergy loss, in this paper, a method to settle the utility pinch temperature difference is proposed, and a formula to calculate the utility pinch temperature difference is deduced. The heat exchange network of an ethene plant is taken as a case study. The exergy losses are compared by using both single utility pinch temperature difference method and multi utility pinch temperature difference method, the results show that it can obtain a better solution to use multi utility pinch temperature difference method.
