Automatic synthesis of an optimal water-using network with multiple contaminants
An elegant and general mathematical programming model (NLP or MINLP) is formulated to automatically synthesis an optimal water-using network, and a reliable and practical strategy to generate near feasible initial guess is proposed. The developed model (MINLP) is much more comprehensive than those reported thus far. With the help of the strategy of generating a good initial guess, it is an easy and routine work to find a near global optimum solution for water-using network with multiple contaminants within GAMS environment. An example from literature are optimized to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model, the obtained optimum solutions are as good as those reported “global optimum ones while much computing time is saved.
