Optimal Integration of Production Planning and Process Operation in Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit

In order to insure that optimal production plan obtained by LP is feasible and determine operation conditions fulfilling the plan, production planning and process operation were optimized and integrated as two hierarchies in petrochemical industries. Based on general strategy of optimal integration of production planning and process operation, combined with the characteristic of fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU), concrete solution of optimal integration in FCCU was presented. Firstly, production plan of FCCU was optimized by GIOPIMS. Secondly, a customized model of reaction and regeneration system was developed using Aspen Custom Modeler based on experimental equation, and added to Aspen Plus. Thirdly, the whole model of FCCU was established in Aspen Plus with the model of main fractionation column and absorption and stabilization system established using built-in unit operation model, combined with the customized model of reaction and regeneration system. Finally, appropriate optimization method was employed to solve the NLP problem to find optimal operation condition of FCCU which could fulfill the plan. The solution of optimal integration was validated for a FCCU in a refinery.
