Dynamic Start-up Model of Heat Integrated Distillation Column
Among the many types of column structures that have been proposed to reduce energy consumption of distillation systems, the Heat Integrated Distillation Column (HIDiC) offers effective separation with reduced energy requirements. In the first part of this paper, a dynamic start-up model that can cope with the dry start-up of HIDiC is presented. The differences in start-up time and final product composition between HIDiC and a conventional distillation column (CDC) are discussed. In the second part, three different start-up strategies are presented; the distinctions among them are the filling schedule of low material to the stripping section during start-up periods. From the simulation results, filling with feed for the stripping section has a longer start-up time than the others.
