A NON-ISOTHERMAL PEMFC MODEL INCLUDING INTERFACE MASS TRANSFER WITHOUT EMPIRICAL COEFFICIENTS
This study presents a 3D non-isothermal two-phase CFD model for a PEMFC with the simplified kinetics. The improved two-phase model includes a new submodel for interface mass transfer without empirical coefficients. The model predicts the cell performance, temperature and concentration profiles taking into account two-phase flow in anode and cathode channels. The main advantage of the new submodel is that evaporation and condensation processes are described without using empirical mass transfer coefficients. The model reflects the influence of various parameters on fuel cell performance including flow field design, porosity and polymer properties.
