A Cost Effective and Customer Focused Performance Improvement Methodology for Supply Chain Networks
In these days of tough competition and increased globalization, companies can gain cost and competitive advantages over their rivals through a careful and proactive management of their supply chains. The performance of a supply chain can be affected by several endogenous and exogenous factors such as demand fluctuations, inappropriate ordering policies or poor choice of operating parameters. These factors can manifest as inefficiencies in the supply chain such as an increase in the resources needed to achieve a desired output or a decline in the output for the invested resources. The present work aims to adapt the Supply Chain Intelligence (SCI) concepts to create supply chains with enhanced performance. Modeling and optimizing complex supply chains in the context of multiple-objectives along with the bullwhip constraint is crucial in solving the problem with minimal computation and without loss in generality. Replenishment rule optimization is established to be a key factor to achieve high supply chain performance.
