Optimization of Propylene-Propane Distillation with Heat Pump

The process of conventional propylene-propane distillation is simulated by Aspen Plus software with RK-SOAVE property model and RADFRAC distillation model. Two kinds of heat pump flows for propylene-propane distillation are simulated based on the calculation results of the conventional column. The simulation results show that the energy-saving effect of using the liquid from the bottom as the heat pump medium (B-type) is better than that of using the vapour from the top as the heat pump medium (A-type). Moreover, operating parameters such as feed plate, reflux ratio and throttle pressure of B-type heat pump flow are optimized.
