TEST RESEARCH OF MECHANICS PERFORMANCES FOR RIGID CONNECTION JOINTS OF MEMBRANE STRUCTURES
The joint strength of membrane structure is one of most important targets for the overall construction performance of membrane structure. Therefore, researches on mechanics performances of connection joints of membrane structures, such as bearing capacities, force transmission mechanism, are important constituents of the membrane structure performance research. The joint forms of membrane structure are numerous and complex. According to the functions and the connection relations of membrane units, the joint forms can be divided into three fundamental kinds. Two parts, the trial test and the orthogonal test, are included in the paper. The mechanics performance of membrane-rigid boundary connection of membrane structure has been studied. Through the trial test, the force transmission mechanisms of two kinds of joint forms, the plate- bolt clamp connection and U-shape clamps connection, are revealed, and the reasonable test equipment and loading system are established. The joint destruction forms as well as the influence parameters for joint strength are analyzed preliminarily. Based on the trial test, the orthogonal test is carried on, and the influence of various joint parameters to the joint strength is quantitatively analyzed, at the same time, the reasonable, feasible membrane-rigid boundary joint parameters and its joint strength are determined. ANOVA method is used to analyze investigation results, including influencing degrees of various parameters on test results. The orthogonal test and variance analysis indicate that, the influence of various factors to the joint failure load according to significance can be ranked as: bolts spacing, clamp plate thickness, clamp late width, compound boundary width, side rope diameter, and compound form of membrane set. Among them, the influence of bolts spacing is most remarkable, while the different compound ways of membrane set (welding or glues) nearly do not affect test results. Combining the variance analysis and destruction phenomenon analysis, the influence of three kinds of connection parameters, bolt spacing, clamp thickness as well as side rope diameter, on joint strength and destruction forms are mainly inspected. The reasonable levels of connection joint parameters are given, and suggested value of the reasonable joint design connection strength is obtained, which is about 75% of tensile strength of membrane materials.
