TEST METHOD FOR MEASURING THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF FLEXIBLE OIL PIPES
Flexible pipe is a kind of transport equipment especially employed to conduct gas or liquid. The unbonded flexible pipe products with multiplicate structures designed and manufactured by Wellstream Company of U.S.A, which consist of concentric extruded polymer and reinforcing helical metallic layers, can be used to conduct oil and natural gas in deep-water condition. With the purpose of testing the performance of these pipes under complicated external conditions, RISEDR (Research Institution of Structural Engineering and Disaster Resistance) of Tongji University is employed to design and conduct a series experiments (including tension test, torsion test, and bending test with different temperatures and internal pressures), to find out the mechanical properties of these pipes. In this article, details of designing and conducting of these experiments will be introduced, and the validity of the experiments will be discussed.
