TEST METHOD FOR MASONRY WALLS SUBJECTED TO IN-PLANE LOADING
The behaviour of masonry walls under in-plane loading depends very much on the static boundary conditions in a building. Within the European research project ESECMaSE a method for testing masonry walls with realistic dimensions and boundary conditions has been developed. Numerous wall tests on walls with different unit / mortar combinations have been performed using the proposed method to investigate the influence of relevant parameters like the aspect of ratio, the degree of vertical loading and the boundary conditions at the top of the wall on bearing capacity and ductility.
