TESTING SYSTEM FOR MULTIDIMENSIONAL LOADING ON BEAM-COLUMN CONNECTIONS
Testing system for multidimensional loading on beam- column connections was carefully designed. In this setup, spherical bearings were placed at beam ends as well as the top and bottom of the column to achieve the expected restraint as perfect pin-boundary conditions. Using this setup, quasi static cyclic tests were carried out on beam-column connections with a constant axial load on the column and antisymmetric cyclic loads on cantilever ends of beams in orthogonal directions. The test results show the setup is applicable to simulate the bi-directional seismic loading condition.
