REMOTELY COLLABORATIVE PSEUDO-DYNAMIC TESTING OF MULTISTORY STRUCTURES

Substructure pseudo-dynamic test is an effective way to conduct large-scale tests. An extension of this technique is to conduct remotely cooperative experiments among geographically distributed structural laboratories by dividing the whole structure into several substructures for testing. In this study, a new platform for remotely cooperative hybrid dynamic testing is developed. It is composed of four modules, named as control center, physical tester, virtual tester, and remote observer. Utilizing the network communication platform NetSLab, control and feedback data can be transferred between the four modules. A ten story composite structure was tested to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed testing platform. The overall structure was divided into two substructures with the bottom two stories to be tested physically by physical tester and the other parts to be simulated by virtual tester. Interactions between the two parts were also considered in the tests.
