SHAKING TABLE TEST FOR HENAN STEEL TOWER OF 388M IN HEIGHT
Henan steel tower is 388m in height and is a multifunction tower, with the functions of broadcast, TV emission and sightseeing, etc. Because the conformation of this super-high tower is complex, and there is a 12 storey building on it, the earthquake- resistant behaviors must be studied. Based on the similitude theory and member equivalent principle, a 1/40 scale model of Henan tower was designed and constructed, a series of earthquake simulation tests were carried out on the shaking table with different waves and different earthquake levels. The dynamic properties, responses of acceleration and deformation under different wave peak values were studied, and the weak position of the model was found. Test showed that there were no buckling and failure of the steel elements occurred during the test. And the data of the test indicate that the prototype of the tower has a rational arrangement of structural elements and a good seismic-resistant behavior. From the shaking table test, it is suggested that energy dissipation measures should be taken to enhance the structural damping ratio and vibration control technique is required to reduce the structural especially the top trussseismic response.
