SHAKING TABLE MODEL TEST OF THE MEGA TOWER OF CHINA WORLD TRADE CENTER PHASE 3A
This paper has studied the dynamic properties and seismic performance of the Mega tower of China World Trade Center Phase 3A by the shaking table model test. The super-structure of the testing model, consisting of a 74 stories tube-in-tube structure provided by a perimeter composite moment frame, a braced composite central core frame, and two outriggers as means of linkage between the tubes, had a total weight of 500kN and a length scale of 1/30. In the design and fabrication of the test model, the similitude formulas and similitude factors of all physical quantities are studied. The test results are analyzed and simulated in detail with SAP 2000 program. The test and simulation results show that the design scheme of the Mega tower meets the requirements of the three seismic fortification levels specified in the Chinese Code, Code for Seismic Design of Buildings (GB50011-2001), and the dynamic properties of the Mega tower can be simulated well by the testing model.
