SHAKING TABLE MODEL TEST ON A SUPER TALL-BUILDING WITH HIGH LEVEL TRANSFER STOREY
Standing 250m above the ground level, the tower employs a complicated modern tall building system that involves the use of a reinforced core, two outrigger trusses and eight composite (concrete encased steel) mega-columns in the exterior perimeter of the building to resist vertical and lateral loads. According to the Tecbnical Specifications for Concrete Structures of Tall Building (TSCSTB, JGJ3- 2002), the height of building clearly exceeds the stipulated maximum height of 190m for a composite frame/reinforced concrete core building. Besides, it belongs to B grade complex tall building due to the strengthened storey and high level transfer storey. A scaled model (1/30) was made and tested on shaking table to study its dynamic characteristics, seismic responses and to evaluate its earthquake resistant capacity.
