SHAKING TABLE MODEL TEST OF AN IRREGULAR HIGH-RISE BUILDING
Nowadays, the irregular high-rise buildings are becoming more extensive in China. Considering the irregularities and complexities of these buildings, it is significant to verify the safety and rationality of their seismic design through effective means including shaking table model tests. In this paper, a 1/15 scale model of an irregular high-rise building is tested on shaking table to study its seismic behavior and to evaluate its seismic capacity. The dynamic characteristics and the model response under different earthquake levels are investigated. Then the dynamic characteristics and response of the prototype structure are evaluated according to the similitude relation. The weak positions of the structure and the failure mechanism are discussed as well. Finally some suggestions for engineering design are put forward.
