NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF IRREGULAR STEEL FRAME-RC TUBE HIGH-RISE BUILDING WITH TEST VERIFICATION
Shanghai International Design Center is a two-tower high-rise building with plan and elevation irregularity, so that according to Chinese code detailed study is requested. Detailed study usually includes refined structural analysis, scaled structural model test and large size member or joint test. The experiment being made by the research group is aimed at obtaining some insight into irregular steel frame-RC tube high-rise building with connecting part in the middle height. Shaking table test of the 1/15 scaled structural model was carried out in order to investigate its dynamic characteristics and seismic performance under frequently occurred, basic and seldom occurred intensity of earthquakes. Description of the model, the test program and experimental results including damage pattern, acceleration and displacement response are presented in detail. A comparison of the results obtained from the experiment and numerical analysis usin9 3D finite element method is provided, through which the weak parts of the structure are discovered. Finally some corresponding measures for improving the design of this structure are suggested.
