CABLE FORCE IDENTIFICATION BASED ON VIBRATION MEASUREMENTS
Cable is one of the important components of arch bridges, cable-stayed bridges and suspension bridges. It is very important to acquire the cable tensions for bridge construction, assessment and long-term health monitoring. The vibration-based method is usually used for measuring cable tensions because of its simpleness and speediness. In this paper, the method for calculating cable tensions of short cables used in arch bridges based on measured free-vibration frequencies is investigated. Considering different cable anchors, two methods are used for analytical calculation. To validate the performance of the proposed method, a field test of stay cables is conducted. Results show that the calculated frequencies can achieve a good agreement with the measured ones
