A MODAL PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION TECHNIQUE OF STRUCTURE BASED ON AMBIENT VIBRATION MEASUREMENT
In this paper, a novel approach for modal parameter identification from vibration measurement data is proposed. The data is transferred from time domain to frequency domain by FFT firstly. The eigen frequencies, modal damping ratio and displacement are all computed in the frequency domain. And then the data is transferred again from frequency domain to time domain. In time domain, the vibration modes are computed using the displacement obtained in frequency domain. By this principle, the monitoring system and analysis software are developed. As an example, the system has been used on a seven-story steel structure. The monitoring results show that the method is effective to find the modal frequency, damping ration and vibration modes.
