Effect of Strength G on Perception of Listener Envelopment
Spatial impression has been regarded as the item ascribable to the quality of apparent source width (ASW) and listener envelopment (LEV) in concert halls. Many researches have been conducted on the acoustical parameters which affect the spatial impression in auditoria. However, the LEV in relation to sound pressure level has not been fully recognized. Therefore, in this study, the spectral and temporal aspects of the acoustical parameters such as SPL and IACC were investigated, and subjective evaluation was conducted on the vocal sources in the new Sejong Chamber Hall (476 seats). The relationship between the listeners judgment and the objective parameters influenced by the early and late sound energy was sought to determine the minimum level of sound strength (G) for listener envelopment.
