A Simple Spatial Localization Method of 3D Sound Sources
In order to simplify the spatial localization of sound sources using microphone array, a simple special localization method of 3D sound sources is proposed, in which four microphones are arranged in rectangular coordinate axes. In the proposed method, the sound arrival time difference between different microphone pairs is analyzed by measuring the cross-correlation function of the received signals, and the direction angles of the sound source related to three axes can be easily derived according to the time difference by using an approximated cone model. The direction angles are then converted into the azimuth and elevation in polar coordinate system. As compared with the existing methods, the proposed method is an easy way with low computational complexity.
