Traffic Noise Mapping of Guangzhou Inner Ring Road
The problems resulting from urban growth is continuously adding pressure on the everyday living of people in cities.With the rapid development of ring road construction in Guangzhou central area, the traffic noise pollution is increasing seriously.It is necessary to map, manage and reduce the noise. In this paper, a traffic noise survey of Guangzhou inner ring road (IRR) is performed. According to the monitoring data, the traffic noise mapping of the road is then calculated by using the noise analyzing software and by generating the Geographic Information System (GIS) data with acoustic models. The noise mapping, integrated with geographical information system data, reveals the noise condition in central urban areas in a visible way and helps to predict the noise levels. By comparing the predicted noise levels with the measured ones, it is found that the presented noise mapping is reliable and is useful for the decision making for the environmental protection in central urban areas.
