A Study on the Relationship Between Household Lifestyles and Energy Consumption of Residential Buildings in China
With the rapid development of economy and the improvement of peoples living conditions in recent years, the residential energy consumption is continuously increasing in China. According to the experiences of the developed countries and regions, not only the attributes of residential buildings but also the daily household lifestyles affect the household energy consumption. In order to make clear the relationship between household lifestyles and energy consumption, and obtain available and feasible measures in daily domestic life for energy saving, in this research, four surveys about household lifestyles and energy consumption were performed respectively in four selected weeks of four different seasons in 2006/2007. Through statistical methods, the results of the surveys show that household lifestyles are closely related to energy consumption, and that some rational measures can be applied to daily life for energy saving. After one year, there was a remarkable improvement of the subjected occupants energy consciousness and behavior, and the energy consumption reduced obviously in the last survey comparing with the former three surveys.
