Residential Environment Evaluation System Considering Environmental Quality and Environmental Load for Sustainable Development of Residential District (Part Ⅰ): Residential Environment Quality
Residential environment is one of the most important elements for the quality of life, as well as the main support for the activities of economy, culture and society. However, the improvement of residential environmental quality also has been increasing the consumption of energy and the emission of pollutants. In this paper, first, a systematic methodology for the evaluation of sustainable residential environment is established, considering both the residential environmental quality (Q) and the residential environmental load (L). The part of Q is constructed by safety, health, amenity, convenience and community of residential environment. The part of L is about the environmental impact of the lifecycle of housing and community. Then, the region of Yangtze River Delta of China is selected as the research area, because it is the most highly-growing area of China and gives great influence on other cities. As the first part of the research, the authors performed questionnaire surveys in Hangzhou and Shanghai focusing on the residential environmental quality (Q), and analyzed the residential environmental satisfaction of people. In the next step, the study on the index part of environmental load (L) will be performed, and the weight of each factor will be determined. A desirability of the authors is to obtain the results contributing to the sustainable development and improvement of urban residential environment for the rapidly developing China.
