The Foshan Weddinghouse
The Wedding house is a typical architecture in Foshan and a special light of Cantonese folk-custom. From the Qing dynasty to the time before the liberation war, Foshan was a flourishing commercial city with local manufactural culture. During that period, there were lots of Weddinghouses used specially for wedding in Foshan. However, there was a lack of the similar architecture in other places of Canton due to the particular background of Foshan. As a place rented to any person for wedding in every short-term, the Weddinghouse was closely related to the local wedding convenance space, which was influenced by both the conventional family etiquette and the active commercial culture. This paper focuses on the above-mentioned points to discuss the development process of the Foshan Wedding house.
