An Empirical Study on Motivations of Multinationals Sourcing in China
Sourcing is the key area in production. Recently, many multinationals increase their scales of sourcing in China. Basing on the 109 responses of questionnaire investigation to multinationals in China, this paper examines these multinationals motivations of sourcing in China. The factor analysis shows that motivations can be summarized into Strategic development motivation, Chinese market- seeking motivation and Reducing cost motivation. Furthermore, with the continued integration of the Chinese market into the global economy, and the increasing flow of FDI into China, the first two motivations, that is, the strategic level motivations become more prominent than Reducing cost motivation.
