Method to produce High Quality LVL efficiently

Laminated veneer lumber has been commercially available for 30 years now. During this season of growth different LVL production methods have been developed and tested ranging from continuous pressing to scarf-jointing of veneers. Among all these methods the one Raute developed already at the end of 70s has proven to be the most reliable and most adaptable for different situations. LVL is produced of peeled veneers-wood components, which are small enough to dampen away the effect of single defects in the raw material and yet large enough to be handled as individuals in the LVL process. The challenge in the LVL process is how to make strongest possible LVL from the available raw material resource by using of smart grading of the veneers. LVL is used in a variety of different dimensions- lengths, thicknesses and widths. How Raute LVL process is suitable for flexible production of different dimensions-benefits the combination of continuous lay-up and cycle type hot pressing offers in LVL production. LVL is also used in shorter lengths for structural and non-structural applications. How the continuous Raute LVL lay-up is combined with multi-opening pressing technology. I-joists as an application for LVL further processing.
