The Study on the Procedure of Strengthened Bamboo-Wood Composite LVL

Strengthened Bamboo/Wood composite Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) was manufactured from poplar veneer and bamboo curtains, which were impregnated with low- molecular-weight water-soluble phenol-formaldehyde resin. In order to get the proper hot-pressing procedure, this paper discussed the effects of four factors (lay-up manners, compression ratio, hot- pressing temperature and hot-pressing time) on Modular of Elasticity (MOE) and Modular of Rupture (MOR) of Bamboo/Wood composite LVL. The results indicated that the four factors all had effect on the MOE and MOR of Bamboo/wood composite LVL. The Bamboo/Wood composite in the assemble pattern which surface was one layer bamboo curtain had better physical properties. The optimized procedure parameter is: compression ratio 15~25%; hot-pressing temperature 140~160℃; Hot-pressing time 1.2- 1.6min/mm (board thickness).
