Development of Fire-Resistant Laminated Veneer Lumber
The objective of this research was to manufacture fire-retardant laminated veneer lumber from plantation poplar veneer using both aluminium hydroxides (Al(OH)<,3>) as the in-process fire retardant and Na<,2>SiO<,3> as the post-treatment retardant Shear strength and fire performance evaluated with a cone Calorimeter were selected to determine the performance of the developed product. The experimental results showed that the fire performance of treated LVL was highly improved in terms of the heat realese rate, amount, mass loss, smoke production and ignition time. And shear strength property of the treated LVL met the requirements of China national standard LVL product standard GB/T 20241-2006.
