The Current Status and Technical Strategy of the Heavy Oil Development on Northwest Edge of Juggar Basin

The heavy oil reservoirs on the Northwest Edge of Juggar Basin are characterized of shallow depth, high reservoir heterogeneity, and large variety of oil viscosity and weak energy of natural drive. Based on the geologic condition and production performance, the reservoirs can be classified into five types. Different type has different production performance. During the production practice, according to the peculiarities of the heavy oil reservoirs on the Northwest Edge of Juggar Basin, corresponding technical strategy has been planed as follows: (1) integral design and step-by-step execution; pilot test first and then industrialized production. (2) Combined cyclic steam stimulation (CSS) so as to improve the effect of cyclic steam stimulation (CSS). (3) Steam injection using big hole well to produce extra heavy oil, so as to improve the utilization factor of resources. (4) A suit of matching technology of CSS at middle-late stage, thus improving the recovery effect. (5) Conversion from steam flooding to hot water flooding at the late stage of steam flooding, thereby prolonging the economically effective recovery period. (6) Utilization of the technology of conversion from water drive to steam flooding at the late stage of water drive, thereby enhancing final oil recovery of three types of conglomerate reservoirs.
