OPPORTUNITY FOR A SAGD PILOT TEST IMPLEMENTATION IN A ZONE IN INITIAL PHASE OF OPERATION, AYACUCHO AREA, ORINOCO BELT
With the purpose of implementing a SAGD pilot test In Ayacucho Area, of the Orinoco Oil Belt in Venezuela, a simulation study was conducted to evaluate SAGD process. A pair of wells is to be drilled in an area in its initial phase of operation, with the idea of implementing a massive scheme of operation to increase from 6 to 10%, up to 40-60% the recovery efficiency of the extra-heavy oil reservoirs. The methodology used contemplates sensitivity analyses to evaluate the best SAGD process performance, considering several parameters such as separation between producer and injector, and steam injection rates to optimize oil recovery. Considering a heterogeneous reservoir model the following results were obtained. the recommended separation between injector and producer wells is fifteen (15) meters, for optimum steam injection rates of 375ton/d for the SAGD during the first 5 years and 250ton/d for the remaining of the forecast. The operational conditions results showed a cumulative oil production of 6.72 MMBLS in 10 years, with an average water cut of 50%, considering SOR of 1.03. The estimated recovery factor is 65 %.
