High Temperature Optical Fiber Temperature and Pressure Monitoring Technique and Application for Heavy Oil
During the process of SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage) and steam drive development for heavy oil, temperature and pressure monitoring is very important for knowing about the vertical producing extent of reservoirs in oil wells, determining plane steam front and thermal communication, and analyzing the development of steam chamber. The high-temperature optical fiber temperature and pressure monitoring system for heavy oil, which is presented in this paper, consists of a computer, a demodulator for oil wells and an armored downhole optical fiber. The monitoring system is characterized by high- temperature resistance (maximum temperature 350℃), no hysteresis, stable performance and high accuracy etc.; it realizes real time, synchronous, continuous and permanent monitoring of distributed downhole temperature and separate layer pressure. Different testing techniques are adopted in accordance with different well types, such as observation wells, steam injection wells, production wells and horizontal wells and the need for systematically monitoring the temperature field and pressure field of a block can be met. This paper also gives an introduction of the application of this technique in the SAGD pilot test area of Block Du84 of Liaohe Oilfield.
