Research on the Technology of Cold Production with Limited Sanding in Heavy Oil Reservoir with Bottom and Edge Water

The main formation, of Bentiu for Fula oilfield in Sudan Block 6 has a depth about 1300~1500m, which is of unconsolidated sandstone, with much active bottom and edge water. The oil viscosity under reservoir condition is about 225~753mPa.S, which belongs to conventional heavy oil. In view of the reservoir features and investigation results, the development strategy of cold production with limited sanding is put forward in this reservoir. This method will selectively prevent coarse sand and discharge fine sand, thus to discharge adequate sand, enhance the well production. Aim at this reservoir, through physical experiment, rock cohesion strength of this reservoir is measured, critical sanding rate is analyzed; the influence region of limited sanding and its effect level is analyzed applying petroleum engineering method and 4Phase simulation, reservoir model is adjusted on the base of history matching, The effect of bottom and edge water on cold production with sanding is also studied. With this development strategy, in prediction the recovery of Fula North oilfield in Sudan 6 Block will arrive above 20%. Field production performance shows that limited sanding can effectively enhance well production; it can get better development result.
