Characteristic of Oil Shale of Dalianhe Coal Mine in Yi-Shu Graben, Heilongjiang Province, China

Dalianhe Coal Mine is located in the northern part of the Fangzheng Faulted Depression of Yi-Shu Graben, The development area is 17.5km<2> and the exposed area in open pit is 2.4km<2>. The oil shale occurs in the Eocene Dalianhe Formation, which contains three member. The oil shale can be divided into two big layers: the oil shale in the coal layers and the thick oil shale above the top coals. The oil shale in the coal layers is appeared with a few interbeds of coal. oil yield is changed from 3.3% to 17.05% and the average is 9.43%. The total thickness of oil shale is from 12m to 3Om. The thick oil shale above the top coals is composed of oil shale and thin bed siltstone and fine sandstone deposited in stagnant lacustrine facies. Its thickness is from 70m to l4Om. It can be divided into three sections. The Fischer oil yield in this layer is not uniform. The range of oil yield is from 2.02% to 5.6%. The characteristic of oil shale in Dalianhe Coal Mine is similar with that in Fushun, the future of development and utilization of the oil shale resource is promising.
