Improving Production Performance Utilizing Horizontal Well in Shallow Thin Extra-heavy Oil Reservoir
Rich extra-heavy oil reserves, deposited in shallow xinjiang Oil Field (with depth of 100~500m), is usually developed by steam huff and puff with vertical wells, which shows poor production performance (with daily production of 2~4t/d) and low economic profit (with SOR nearly 4~6) due to low reservoir pressure (about 2~3 MPa), high oil viscosity (about 10,000~50,O00mpa.s) and poor reservoir properties ( with thickness of 5~7m, permeability of 500-800×10-31~m, porosity of 23~28%). And now, horizontal well is widely utilized to improving production performance and playing more and more important role in developing these reservoirs. The paper will review the application of horizontal wells, including production performance (such as production, SOR) of horizontal wells and vertical wells as well as horizontal length and other parameters of huff and puff The paper also details the numerical simulation study of steam huff and puff with horizontal well, such as horizontal length and steam absorbed section and sensitive analysis of reservoir parameters. Finally, the paper will brief the improving performance of commercial horizontal wells, which demonstrates the high productivity, good profit and the feasibility of applying horizontal wells in such shallow extra-heavy oil reservoir.
