PROSPECTIVE AREA SELECTION USING STATISTICAL METHODS IN JUNiN AREA OF THE ORINOCO OIL BELT

Junin is one of the main four areas in the Orinoco Oil Belt, it has the largest area (6, 780 Km2) and OOIP. It is also the one with the highest oil production (350 MBD), bearing a considerable volume of reserves. The objective of this work is to calc~ilate an Opportunity Index in order to determine the most productive zones in the Junin area. The methodology was validated in areas with available geological and production information and will be used dynamically in the future as more data is being acquired. The methodology herein presented considers the formulation of mathematical relationships among rock and fluid parameters (permeabilities, residual oil saturations, net sand pay, porous volume, oil volumetric factor, and viscosity), and uncertainties. The formulations define four different indexes;flow capacity, oil volume, mobile oil and uncertainty. The uncertainty index varies between 0 and 1 and considers a subjective matrix based on the information collected in the area. Harmonic averages of those indexes permit the visualization of the most interesting zones through numerical modeling. The results obtained applying this methodology, have allowed to define potential areas to be developed in a future exploitation stage.
