Utilizing Multi-lateral Well Technology to Improve the Production Effect of Heavy Oil
The multi-lateral well technology is utilized for pilot development in super heavy oil and thin layer interbedded heavy oil reservoirs in Liaohe Oilfield. Favorable development effect is achieved. Two different types of multi-lateral well were completed in Du 84 block and Gao 3 block. The TAML 4 multi- lateral well completion technology for different reservoir character were used. Remarkable economical benefit and development effect are gained. It is demonstrated that the multi-lateral well has obtained ood development effect in two classic reservoirs of Liaohe ilfield. Multi-lateral well is an advisable program to improve eavy oil reservoir development effect. After years of practiceand research, Liaohe oilfields multilateral well technology is at the leading edge in China, as evidenced by the attainment of completion levels at TAML Levels 4 and 5. The multilateral well technology has bright future to develop thin heavy oil, low permeability reservoirs and mature old block with potential and to improve the producing rate of reservoirs vertically. In order to improve the multilateral well production effect, we must continuously consummate the well bore trajectory design and control choose right completion method. The scale application of the multi-lateral well in Liaohe oilfield heavy oil reservoir explains that it has the advantage of little environmental contamination and low production cost per ton oil. Fishbone multi-lateral well decreases the investment and declines the production cost per ton oil. The multi-lateral well technology is a effective method to develop heavy oil.
