Chemical structure investigation on SFEF fractions of Dagang vacuum residue
Dagang vacuum residue was cut into sixteen fractions and a tailing with supercritical fluid extraction and fraction (SFEF) instrument. The 10<th> and 15<th> fraction were further separated into four group compositions: saturated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, resins and asphaltenes (SARA). All the compositions except those saturated hydrocarbons were further degraded by Ruthenium ion catalyzed oxidation (RICO). After being separated, involatile acids in the products were methylated with diazomethane, while volatile acids were esterified with phenacyl bromide. Based on GC-MS or GC analysis of these esters, homologous series of n-alkanoic acids, α,ω-di-n-alkanoic acids and benzenepolycarboxylic acids were detected. Wherein, n- alkanoic acids represent aromatic-attached n-alkyl side chains, α,ω-di-n-alkanoic acids present the structure of the polymethylene bridges between two aromatic units, and those benzenepolycarboxylic acids indicate the major mode of aromatic condensations. The products identified in this study show that the structure features of SFEF fractions, especially aromatic condensations mode, is not same as those results reported. Such information is very useful and important for the deep processing and optimize-use of Dagang vacuum residue.
