A Fundamental Research For Upgrading Heavy Oil Using Syngas As Hydrogen Source
Upgrading heavy oil using syngas as alternative hydrogen source with dispersed catalyst was investigated. A finely dispersed catalyst for upgrading reaction was prepared by means of microemulsion, and its performance was investigated in an batch-type autoclave. The process with syngas was compared to traditional pure hydrogen hydro- upgrading process. Feedstock conversion, light-oil yield, coke yield, product distribution, sulfur, nitrogen and viscosity were investigated comprehensively for optimizing process. The addition of finely dispersed catalysts could improve the distribution and performance of cracking products, and inhibit the cracking gas and coke formation. This work shows that residue-syngas coprocessing is promising for heavy oil upgrading.
