Modelling airflow for fiber transfer and separation
Fiber separation is critical in processes such as cashmere dehairing. Traditional mechanical methods of extracting free cashmere fibers from goat fleece cause considerable fiber damage. In this paper, airflow is explored for fiber transfer and separation, using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling technique. Simulation results show that airflow can be applied for effective fiber separation under the conditions examined. The modeLling technique also provides a convenient tool for process optimisation.
