Surface emissivity of fabric in the thermal infrared waveband ranging between 8 and 14μm

Combined with a specially made blackbody, a Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectral radiometer was developed to measure the fabrics surface emissivity in the 8~14μm waveband at different ambient temperatures. The mathematical model of measuring fabrics surface emissivity was put forward by the author. The results show that the surface emissivity of different fabric is different from each other, and the order is polyamide>polyester>wool>cotton>electroless plating fabrics. The surface emissivity of blended fabric is determined by the characteristics of materials it constitutes. For coated fabric, surface emissivity is greatly influenced by the binder. The color has no effect on surface emissivity for the same fabric. The fabrics surface has a great influence on surface emissivity. The surface emissivity of fabric does not change below 200℃.
