Extraction of yellow chrysanthemum flower dye and its dyeing properties

This paper investigates the method of extraction of coloring matters from yellow chrysanthemum flower and its dyeing properties on wool fabrics. The investigation shows that the coloring matters in yellow chrysanthemum flower can be extracted by boiling water. The extracted dye solution is yellow and stable at pH3~7, while its color changes from yellow to yellow-green when pH is 9. The wool knitted fabric, which is dyed under the optimized dyeing conditions with the extracted dye from yellow chrysanthemum flower, shows that the color of bright yellow and its color fastness properties are acceptable. Yellow chrysanthemum flower can be served as the resource of the natural plant dyestuff for wool fabrics.
